Light is life – from photon to cell

Electron Transfer, Photobiomodulation & Hydrogen

How does the energy of light travel from a photon into the cell? Starting with photosynthesis, this presentation demonstrates how light energy is converted into chemical bonds via charge separation and proton gradients. Based on Marcus theory and current review articles, it explains the physical rules by which electrons are transported in biological systems. Building on this, the currently discussed mechanisms of action of photobiomodulation on the mitochondrial respiratory chain as well as the principle of mitohormesis are examined. Finally, the presentation evaluates the current state of research on the inhalative application of hydrogen and clarifies why the conceptual distinction between "storing electrons" and "storing energy in chemical potential" is crucial for understanding water electrolysis.

Lecture by Jesse de Groodt

When light therapy proves effective in practice!

What role can light play in everyday therapeutic practice?

Following the scientific insight into the mechanisms of action of light on the cell, things get practical. Using selected patient cases and personal practical experiences, Jesse de Groodt shows how low-level laser therapy can be specifically integrated into various therapeutic concepts – from established areas of application to cases that can surprise even experienced therapists. The focus is not on theoretical protocols, but on real-world practice: concrete applications, clinical observations, and documented case studies directly from everyday therapeutic work. A practice-oriented lecture that shows when and how light therapy can be meaningfully incorporated into existing treatment concepts.

New dimensions in longevity medicine

New Approaches, New Possibilities

What lies beyond the well-known concepts of longevity medicine? This presentation looks at current findings, new technologies, and innovative approaches that could expand our understanding of health and healthy aging. The focus is on exciting connections at the intersection of biology, physics, and modern healthresearch – from processes at the smallest level to new possibilities for prevention, regeneration, and vitality. What developments are currently emerging in longevity research, and which of them might play an important role in the future? A presentation on new perspectives and unconventional ways of thinking, showing where the next generation of longevity medicine could be headed.

Quantum biology in the cell

How weak magnetic fields influence the internal clock & metabolism & what this could mean for medicine

Classical physics describes many life processes using measurable quantities such as force, energy, and mass transport. Quantum biology investigates whether tunneling effects, coherence, and entanglement also play a role in living cells. This lecture provides an accessible introduction to this emerging field of research. The radical pair mechanism serves as a bridge between quantum physics and measurable processes within the cell. The focus is on how weak electromagnetic fields affect cellular metabolism, including mitochondrial respiration, the internal clock, and the response to oxygen deprivation. Finally, medical perspectives are classified, along with the limitations of current findings and open questions in the research.

Longevity decoded

The molecular keys to aging

To treat aging, one must understand it—ideally at the molecular level. One of the first approaches to this emerged in the 1950s: Denham Harman's free radical theory, which remains highly significant today. Since then, many other aging factors have been identified. In particular, the publication "The Hallmarks of Aging," first released in 2013 and updated in 2023, now serves as the foundation for numerous longevity medicine approaches. Factors such as silent inflammation, loss of mitochondrial function, glycation, stem cell exhaustion, and epigenetic alterations have significantly expanded our understanding of the aging process. At the same time, increasing amounts of funding are flowing into the longevity sector, which has evolved from a fringe area of medicine into the mainstream. This creates opportunities but also carries risks of commercialization. The lecture will therefore also explore the question: Is the current longevity boom progress or hype?
