Bitter substances & fermentation – what is often missing in the diet

Today's diets are often dominated by sweet and salty foods, while bitter-tasting plants and fermented products have become significantly less common. This can reduce the diversity of plant-based nutrients and microbial components in everyday life.

Fermented foods are produced by active microorganisms and have a unique, "living" composition. Bitter substances, in turn, are perceived in the body via specific receptors and are traditionally associated with digestive processes and the body's own digestive secretions.

The combination of fermented ingredients and plants rich in bitter substances can therefore be a sensible way to consciously reintegrate these components, which are often reduced today, into the diet.

Dysbiosan – Fermented drink with bitter substances & traditional mushrooms

Our MITOcare Dysbiosan was developed to easily integrate the combination of bacterial cultures and bitter-rich plants into everyday life. It is a fermented beverage containing 24 microorganism cultures , combined with an intensely bitter-based formula and a high proportion of three traditional mushrooms : Almond Mushroom (Agaricus blazei murrill), Reishi (Ling Zhi), and Shiitake.

The herbal base is a synergistic blend of over 10 bitter herbs and botanicals , including black cumin seeds, green tea (EGCG), oregano, turmeric, olive leaf, and wormwood – complemented by fenugreek, gentian, peppermint, anise, angelica, and dandelion. This combination is at the heart of the formula and defines Dysbiosan 's characteristically intense, bitter-rich approach.

The microorganisms present consume the available sugar components as a nutrient source during production. This process produces, among other things, lactic acid – this natural conversion process is called fermentation and forms the basis for the fermented beverage .

The high proportion of bitter substances creates a unique environment within the formulation: While the microorganisms are essential for initiating the fermentation process, they are not the primary focus of Dysbiosan . Simultaneously, the bitter-rich environment presents a challenge for the microorganisms, meaning the actual number of cultures present can vary naturally. The product's focus is therefore on the bitter-rich plant mixture and the resulting fermented beverage, which is produced by the microorganisms, rather than on the quantity of microorganisms themselves.

Carefully formulated according to the principle of Causa Logica

Like all products in our Prinzip Causa Logica product line, Dysbiosan is developed as a carefully balanced complex product . At its core is the synergistic combination of bitter-tasting plants, fermentation processes, and microorganism cultures, which are intentionally combined. We rely on high-quality raw materials and consistently avoid unnecessary additives and fillers . Furthermore, production takes place without sterilization , thus preserving the natural composition of the ingredients. The fermentation of natural ingredients results in a formula with optimized bioavailability . Our products are also regularly tested in the laboratory to ensure consistently high quality and purity.

What are the benefits of bitter substances?

Bitter substances activate special Bitter receptors (TAS2R), which is not only on the tongue, but throughout the entire body gastrointestinal tract and even in other organs. Upon contact with bitter substances, reflexes are triggered via taste nerves, which...(Stimulate the release of digestive juices (e.g., saliva, gastric juice, bile) and thus support digestive function).

Benefits in everyday life – what stimulating bile and gastric juices can bring

  • Fat digestion (bile): Bitter substances can support bile flow and emulsify fats better; this could result in less bloating after fatty meals and more regular bowel movements.
  • Digestibility of "heavy" meals: Taking it before meals can harmonize gastric emptying and may make meals more digestible.
  • Appetite for “real food”: The bitter stimulus can stimulate saliva and gastric juice production and could support predigestion and protein breakdown.
  • More natural portion sizes: A bitter taste can reduce cravings for sweets and could cause the feeling of satiety to set in earlier.
  • Less bloating & pressure: A better breakdown of fat and protein can reduce fermentation processes and could subjectively mean less bloating.
  • More awake after eating: More efficient digestive processes can contribute to less fatigue after eating.

Why is there sugar in the recipe?

The sugar it contains has an important function: it serves asNutrient source for the living microorganisms, which are contained in our fermented drinks. During thefermentationDo these microorganisms utilize theSugar as energy to become active, to multiply & to form valuable metabolic productsIn this process, sugar cane molasses and sugars are gradually consumed by microorganisms and, among other things, inLactic acidconverted.

Sugarcane is particularly well-suited for this process because it is a natural, readily available source of easily digestible sugars. The microorganisms it contains can efficiently utilize these sugars to carry out their metabolic activity. At the same time, sugarcane naturally contains plant compounds that can support the fermentation process.

Sugar therefore primarily fulfills a functional role in the fermentation process: it serves as"Food" for the microorganismsso that they remain active and can form their typical fermentation products. This natural transformation process creates a living fermented beverage with its characteristic properties.

What is the difference between the 3 fermented drinks?

Brief comparison of the key aspects of the formulation:
  • Flora Balance:Greatest plant diversity, mild & fruity in taste, 27 bacterial strains in a stable fermentative environment
  • Dysbiosan:A strongly bitter ferment with traditional fungi; bacterial strains are not in a stable environment due to the high concentration of bitter substances.
  • Bitter fermentation:Organic bitter substance blend in raw food quality with multi-stage fermentation and stable bacterial strains.
Flora Balance Quick Overview:
  • Microorganisms:Contains 27 active strains of microorganisms existing in a stable fermentative environment. This ensures the cultures remain stable and can develop their activity within the ferment.
  • Plant substances & bitter substances:The greatest variety of plants among the 3 MITOcare fermented drinks, with predominantly mild bitter substances. The taste is fruity with a hint of mango, making the product particularly well-tolerated and delicious.
  • Traditional mushrooms:Contains the traditional Reishi mushroom (Ling Zhi)
  • Quality features:Most microorganisms thrive in a stable environment, with grape seed extract
  • Application focus:Suitable for people who want to nutritionally support their gut flora and prefer a mild, well-tolerated ferment. Its pleasant taste also makes it suitable for children.
Dysbiosan Quick Overview:
  • Microorganisms:Contains 24 active strains of microorganisms used in the fermentation process. However, the high concentration of bitter substances creates an environment in which microorganisms cannot remain stable in the long term. This is a deliberate choice, as Dysbiosan focuses not on live bacteria, but on the bitter substances and the resulting fermentation product.
  • Plant substances & bitter substances:A fermented beverage with a very bitter flavor and a plant-based bitter matrix, including ingredients such as oregano and black cumin.
  • Traditional mushrooms:High proportion of traditional mushrooms including Agaricus-Blazei-Murrill, Reishi (Ling Zhi) & Shiitake
  • Quality features:Pure formulation without additives, high bitter substance and mushroom content
  • Application focus:Especially suitable for people who want to support their gut balance nutritionally and specifically focus on bitter substances, fermented plant substances and traditional mushrooms.
Bitter ferment Quick overview:
  • Microorganisms:Contains 16 active microorganism strains, produced through multi-stage fermentation in a stable fermentative environment. The combination of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Lactobacillus fermentum is particularly noteworthy.
  • Plant substances & bitter substances:A bitter herbal blend made from over 10 organic herbs, including classic bitter-containing plants.
  • Traditional mushrooms:Contains Reishi (Ling Zhi) as a traditional mushroom
  • Quality features:Multi-stage fermented organic herbs in raw food quality and at a stable level
  • Application focus:Suitable for people who want to nutritionally support their digestive processes, especially in connection with plants rich in bitter substances and fermented cultures.
